The City Corps

::Di smiles at you as she walks with out along a somewhat busy City street, various Gemlords with all sorts of shades of hair and all kinds of styles of clothing going past on their business of the moment. Some wave at you or give you a friendly smile; others just smirk and hurry past or ignore your presence:: Essentially, the City Corps are those Gemlords whose main duties are seeing to the order and safety of the City that the Gemlords inhabit. Included among their members are those who carry out the administrative duties under the auspices of the Lord Mayor, the Gemlords who patrol the area as a sort of police force and act as a militia if necessary, and the Gemlords who maintain the buildings, streets and parks. To be honest, everyone contributes in some way to the maintenance of the city--there are Gemlords that often to volunteer work around the City as a matter of course or work on projects through their hobbies that benefit everyone--but these are the Lithosians whose job it is to actively maintain the City and see to it that the environs are clean and comfortable to everyone.

The Healers' Guild

::Di stops in front of a rather modern-appearing building that's quite reminiscent of a Terran hospital:: This is the Infirmary, which also houses the Healers' Guild. The members of this group of Gemlords includes all those with powers of Healing, for all those that manifest such powers are given training in the healing arts. However, the ones listed here are the ones who have dedicated themselves to Healing alone, acting as the doctors and nurses of Lithos. There are other Healers around who hold other jobs that are deemed more important--Commander Nephrite and Lieutenant Emerald are two that swiftly come to mind--and they will be found listed among the rolls of that group.

Altruistic and dedicated, the Guild is often called in to help handle natural disasters among the native populations of the Cosmos, acting something like a universal Red Cross. Even so, the Healers are expected to maintain the masquerade of "normalcy" among native populations that are unaware of the Gemlords' existence.

Corps of Sciences and Technologies

::Di now leads you through what looks like a light industrial area of the City, located in the Eastern Quarter:: This part of the City houses the businesses and research centers of those Gemlords whose jobs deal with the sciences and technology. Here you ill generally find the scientists, technicians and engineers of Lithos, the ones who have dedicated themselves to the pursuit of such things. Often becoming highly specialized over the centuries, they spend most of their time doing research on their chosen projects and theories. However, they are also often called out into the field to help native populations with any problems identified by the Scouts or other roving Gemlords.
